Something about me.
Born William Alejandro Matos
I grew up having a million questions and never enough answers. I’ve almost always had to find these answers on my own and I’ve always struggled to do these things. I’ve then shared my knowledge of successes and mistakes with others.
Because of my past, how I’ve moved multiple times, how many people I’ve met, I’ve been able to gather information from multiple people and perspectives, and get an idea of how things in life are and how they should be. I’m a hispanic man. I joined the military when I was 18. I’ve deployed and I’m a veteran. I’ve been able to experience a good portion of the world, in different points of view, from a multi-cultural aspect. I worked at a children’s facility where I worked with troubled youth and had to find creative solutions to show them there is more to life than their troubled past. I enjoyed coming up with new and different ways to motivate them. Problem solving to help others has always brought me intrinsic joy. I’ve seen that there are a lot of differences that we can still bring together and solve as a society.
Favorite Part of UX So Far
Wireframing and prototyping. I like seeing how everything works, seeing how it all fits together as a system, getting all the pieces to fit together and become an overall solution. The research was fun. I like communicating with people and digging to find the real problems that need to be solved.
Dream Project
UX for children’s education. How to make the information easily accessible and understandable for children. How can I make it easier for them to learn? How can I keep them engaged? How can I make learning for them fun? This could be an app, website, or any combination of virtual experience.
If you give children a better sense that they’re smart, they’re capable, than they’re more likely to be motivated to keep learning. When you have children compare themselves to others and see they’re not doing as well or are behind, it can be demotivating for them, and they in turn can fall behind on learning. I want to change that.
